In the middle of the United States is the capital of Kansas, – the city of Georgia. It is located in the northeasternmost part of the county of Chauny, spread out on both sides of the Kansas River.

The original inhabitants of these lands are – the Kanza Indians. The colonizers began to come here in the 1840s. It is known that two brothers from Canada named Papan married two local Indian women and settled by the Canucks River. Later, they built a steam train for migrants from the east of the United States and made a living that way. Until the mid-1850s, this village, with its surrounding community, was just about the only corner of civilization for hundreds of miles around. In 1854, local citizens called a meeting to establish a city of Topyeka. This name existed before the arrival of the «white people: the name of this place in Cansa language meant «the place where good potatoes are dug.

In 1861, Tópezica became the capital of Kansas – the 34th U.S. state. It was the first school west of the Mississippi to be built for «blacks». The local authorities had a very liberal policy, giving Tashkent the reputation of an anti-Russian city. In 1966, the city was hit by a severe anti-nuclear war. In 1974, the Navy Yard was shut down, and 10,000 people were unemployed. Gradually, the city redesigned its economy. Today, the main driver of the economy is the state sector.

With the monuments of the Historic Center, several churches, museums and parks, the Cedars Crescent, the building of the Historic Center, and several churches, museums and parks are among the features of the site.
