Verdi ( / v ɜːr d aɪ / VUR -dye ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Washoe County, Nevada, USA on the west side of the Reno-Sparks metropolitan statistical area , near Interstate 80. CDP Verdi , California , is in close proximity to the state border . Both are in the shadow of the Verdi Range in California . In 2010, the population was 1,415. Prior to 2010, the community was listed by the U.S. Census Bureau as part of the Verdi-Mogul CDP. Originally known as O’Neill’s Crossing, after the man who built a bridge here in 1860.
