On the Atlantic Ocean coast, in the southeasternmost part of the state, lies the city of Verdiciana Beach. The area it occupies has been occupied by Europeans since the beginning of the 17th century. At that time, the Englishmen who came to the southern Gulf of Cape Town called the present portion of the Cape Henry coastline after the son of the then king James I, who had reigned on the throne of England. Now the modern Virgin Beach is the most prosperous and largest city in the state. It has three military bases, two universities, and many medical, cultural, and educational institutions within its boundaries. The city has the longest public beach, well-maintained parks with parks and museums. The most popular is the famous historic ship, the Lost Woman Woman” an original copy of the Spanish Galleon.
