Whilemington is a port city in the state of North Carolina. It is located on the Cape Fear River. It is named after the Earl of Wilmington, who served under King George II as minister minister of Great Britain. The historic center of the city is oriented along the riverfront

The first European colonists in the area date from 1720. Before the Civil War in the 19th century, the main activity of the people of Oyomingington was trading. Its geographic location allowed the city to build both a river port and an ocean port, making it a key link in the chain of receiving and distributing imported merchandise throughout the entire market. The construction of the railroad in 1840 helped to expand the commercial activity. During World War II, the shipbuilding yards open in Washington. Since 1927, the international airport of Williamington has welcomed passengers.

An architectural legacy of the period of the Royal Classification in Williamington — the surviving houses of wealthy landowners, industrialists and merchants of the early 18th century. Here we can see both the Venetian Renaissance style and the finest examples of Italian art. In the decoration of the facades, Greek columns, Romanian terraces and galleys were used extensively. The interior of the rooms used technical innovations and the finest materials of interior decoration. Some of them are now open to the public as museums of the period of colonialism, such as the Bellem family house.

Wheeling remains a major industrial and commercial center of the eastern United States today. It is home to the University of North Carolina.

Active support for the film industry has given the city its second unofficial name, — East Hollywood. The rugged bastards of the Kolonists and the coastline were used to film such films as “Dawsons Haven, “The Sleepy Hollow, “The Floors Coupe, “and others.

The ocean beaches of the city are alive with nightlife. Boutiques and cafes, surfing competitions, and three of the citys most popular beaches for families and young people. And the riverside promenade along the rivers historic center wont leave even the most seasoned traveler unhappy. The stations touring buses are available for the public tour.
